How to Play Game Gems

New to Game Gems? This guide explains how quizzes work, how scoring is calculated and which game mode to try first.

Your first quiz in five steps

  1. 1. Pick a quiz. Browse the categories — general knowledge, geography, history, science, movies, music and more — or choose one of the game modes. You can play straight away as a guest; no sign-up is needed.
  2. 2. Choose a difficulty. Category quizzes come in Easy, Medium and Hard. Harder questions give you less time but are worth more points.
  3. 3. Answer against the clock. Read each question and tap the answer you think is right before the timer runs out. Once you choose, your answer is locked in.
  4. 4. Learn as you go. After every question you see the correct answer, often with a short explanation or fun fact. Questions you get wrong are saved to your Mistakes deck.
  5. 5. See your result. At the end you get your score, accuracy, best combo and the XP you earned. Share it with friends or play again to beat it.

Difficulty and scoring

Every category quiz has 10 questions. The difficulty you choose sets the time limit and the points for each correct answer:

DifficultyTime per questionPoints
Easy30 seconds100 points
Medium20 seconds150 points
Hard15 seconds200 points

Speed bonus: answer quickly and you earn up to 50% extra points — the more time left on the clock, the bigger the bonus.

Combo bonus: each correct answer in a row adds another 10%, up to a maximum of +50%. A wrong answer resets the combo.

Wrong answers and timeouts score nothing, but they never take away points you have already earned. Some modes use their own rules — for example Survival and Speed Run give a flat 100 points per correct answer — and each mode page explains them.

Game modes

Beyond the category quizzes, there are ten ways to play:

  • Live Party — Host a quiz on a big screen; up to 50 friends join from their phones with a 6-digit PIN and answer the same question at the same time.
  • 1v1 Challenge — Answer 10 questions, then send the link. Your friend gets exactly the same questions, and you see who scores higher.
  • Daily Challenge — The same 10 questions for everyone, once a day. One attempt, a daily leaderboard and a streak to protect.
  • Survival — Endless questions from every category. Three lives — every wrong answer or timeout costs one.
  • 60s Speed Run — 20 questions and a single 60-second clock. Answer as many as you can.
  • Type the Answer — No multiple choice: type the answer from memory. Small typos are forgiven, and hints reveal letters.
  • Picture Quiz — Identify flags and more from images, with multiple choice or by typing your guess.
  • World Map Quiz — Find countries on a real world map, or name the country that lights up.
  • Voice Master — The questions are read aloud and you answer by speaking — hands-free trivia.
  • Quiz Shorts — One quick question per card, ten seconds each. Swipe up for the next.

XP, levels, streaks and achievements

Every quiz you finish earns XP (experience points), based on your score. As your XP grows you level up, and your level is shown next to your name.

Play on consecutive days to build a streak. Your streak boosts the XP you earn — by 10% per streak day, up to double — so a daily habit pays off quickly.

Achievements reward milestones such as your first perfect score, a 7-day streak, 30 correct answers in one Survival run or winning a Live Party. You can see them all on your profile.

Learn from your mistakes

Every question you answer wrongly is saved to your Mistakes deck. Review it as flashcards, or play a revision quiz made only of questions you missed. Answer a question correctly a few times and it is marked as mastered. It is the fastest way to turn weak topics into strong ones.

Guest or account?

You can play everything as a guest. Your progress is linked to a random ID stored in your browser, so it stays on that device. If you clear your browser data or switch devices, guest progress does not follow you.

Fair play

Questions, timers and answers are handled by our server, so scores cannot be changed in the browser and every player competes under the same rules. Game Gems is free entertainment: there are no entry fees, no real-money prizes and no gambling of any kind.
